The Business

Powell & Co Construction Ltd is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of commercial poultry housing and agricultural buildings. Established in 1998, the family-run business is dedicated to designing and building the best solutions for modern poultry production. Father and son team, Don and Jason Powell deal with businesses of all sizes in a variety of locations and across a range of sectors. Operating from Kingsland near Leominster, Herefordshire, the team of employees and subcontractors, provide the complete solution from initial design and planning right through to bird delivery.


The Role

This is a challenging and rewarding nationwide role to drive sales opportunities for the business, across the portfolio of poultry housing and agricultural buildings.  To manage existing and new customers as well as working closely with a wide range of key stakeholders at each stage of the sales pipeline.


Key Responsibilities

> Meeting sales performance targets
> Responsible for managing their own sales pipeline
> Manage and co-ordinate your time to meet client and employer expectations with an efficient structure
> Negotiate and close commercial sales agreements
> Timely maintenance of Powell’s CRM system for business visibility
> Establish, maintain and grow relationships with existing customers
> Attend and participate at internal and external meetings, as required by the business
> Identify new sales leads/customers through networking and industry-related software
> Identify opportunities for expansion into associated industries and technologies
> Work closely with all team members to manage sales leads
> Support and drive innovation with new product developments
> Represent Powell & Co by attending industry events and exhibitions, to further industry knowledge and expand business growth by networking
> Demonstrate Powell & Co commercial interests throughout


Requirements & Skills

> A strong team player is required, with the ability to communicate with internal stakeholders at all levels
> Highly developed interpersonal skills (written, verbal & face-2-face)
> The candidate must be self-motivated and have a “can-do” attitude
> The candidate must be a strong team player, who can work independently when required
> Strong IT skills and the ability to learn new software platforms as required including various Social Media applications
> Clean driving license



> An experienced sales background within either the Poultry or Construction industry
> Some marketing experience would be of benefit


Salary: dependent upon experience
Holidays: 20 (to start) plus bank holidays
Job Type: Permanent


This role will primarily be on the road, however, fortnightly meetings at our head office in Kingsland, Herefordshire will be required.  There is an immediate start for the right candidate, and we will also take into account a period of notice an individual looking for the next step in their career
