Free Range

Layer Unit

Mark & Helen Williams, Powys

Mark and Helen Williams run a mixed beef and sheep farm at Forden, near Welshpool, Powys.  Keen to diversify into Free Range Poultry and not have ‘all their farming eggs in one basket’ Powell’s have completed this spring a 16,000 bird unit, with egg store and office.  Before the first delivery of birds we jointly hosted a very successful open day in May with over 260 visitors keen to learn more about the Williams’ new venture.  Mark and Helen are regular contributors to Farmers Weekly.

Special Features

• Free Range house built into a bank on a sloping site
• Mezzanine floor above egg store for office area
• Entrance designed to meet new Bio security regulations
• External colour scheme matched existing farm buildings

Why Powells?

“We looked at a lot of local builders but when I had a good look around a Powell’s building I realised the detail, workmanship and level of finish was second to none. Powell’s are just so slick compared with the others! Investment continues on our farm as we grow our free-range poultry business and a second 16,000 shed is being constructed by Powell & Co”, says Mark and Helen.
