Build UK – Coronavirus Impact Update

Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to have a dramatic and unavoidable impact on businesses across the construction industry, many of them SMEs.

Build UK is engaging across its membership to ensure they are responding to the concerns of the sector. Their priority is supporting members and the wider industry with advice and guidance on construction-specific issues, and have a dedicated webpage that collates the key information for employers.  They are also working as part of the Construction Leadership Council (CLC) Task Force to ensure effective communication between the industry and Government.

There is unprecedented financial support available from Government, and Site Operating Procedures have been produced to ensure sites are implementing the Government’s social distancing requirements.

Businesses should continue to follow the most up-to-date Government guidance and email Build UK with any construction-specific queries and feedback on what is happening.  Build UK cannot guarantee to respond to every message; however, if they are aware of sector-specific issues they may have the opportunity to address them collectively.

With the Government confirming that the current lockdown will be extended by at least three weeks, it means that construction sites must continue to implement the Site Operating Procedures
